Rules of the online card game POKER
POKER is a strategic card game played with 2 to 8 players. The goal is to form the best hand or make your opponents believe you have it. Below you will find the rules for Texas Hold'em, the most popular variant, and several adjustable options.
Cards and values:
POKER is played with a standard 52-card deck.Cards rank from low to high: 2 through 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace.
All poker hands (strongest to weakest)
- Royal Flush - A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.
- Straight Flush - Five consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g. 5-6-7-8-9 hearts).
- Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank (e.g. four tens).
- Full House - Three cards of the same rank + a pair (e.g. three Jacks and two eights).
- Flush - Any five cards of the same suit (not consecutive).
- Straight - Five consecutive cards of different suits (e.g. 7-8-9-10-J).
- Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank.
- Two Pair - Two different pairs (e.g. two Kings and two fives).
- One Pair - Two cards of the same rank.
- High Card - No combination; the highest card counts.
Preparation
- Each player receives two cards.
- The bet is shown.
- A dealer is chosen; the blinds are placed.
The small blind places half the bet.
The big blind places the full bet.
Gameplay
- After the cards are dealt, betting rounds follow.
- After the first betting round, three open cards are dealt.
- Players may bet, raise, call or fold.
- After each betting round, one additional card is placed on the table, up to a maximum of 5 cards.
- The player with the best five-card hand (combination of their own cards and the table cards) wins the pot.
- If all other players fold, the remaining player wins without showdown.
Betting
- The bet starts at 2 points.
- After all players have been dealer once, the bet roughly doubles.
Scoring and Winner
- POKER is played with points; the winner is the player who wins all points. All other players have lost all their points.
Variants, adjustable when starting the game
- The number of starting points is adjustable.
- You can choose a limit for betting.
